Biennial Reporting Requirements for Generators of Hazardous Waste

Who Must Report?

All hazardous waste generators and handlers who held an active EPA identification number during the 2005 report year, including conditionally exempt small quantity generators (CESQG) and non-generators with an active EPA Identification Number.

What Type Of Information Is Included In The Report?

The report details the type and amount of hazardous waste that was generated onsite, shipped off site and received from off site during the 2005 report year. The report also includes the EPA Identification Number of the site the hazardous waste was shipped to and from. Biennial Reports are filed for odd numbered calendar years only, such as 2001, 2003, 2005, etc.

What Is The Purpose Of The Report?

To inform the public and Federal, State and local government officials about the onsite management of hazardous waste and to provide verification of the "cradle-to-grave" disposition of hazardous waste.

How Do You Report:
  • TSDF, LQG and SQG sites: Report on a CD-Rom, or a 3.5" computer diskette or by submission of the "flat files".

  • CESQG and Non-generator sites: Report on a hard copy report form ( click here).
Where Do You Obtain The Reporting Forms:

Electronic Reporting Software
Nevada has selected the reporting software developed by the state of Florida DEP. To receive the free reporting software on a CD-ROM, contact the University of Nevada Reno's Nevada Small Business Development Center at 775-784-1717.

Hard Copy Reporting
A limited number of 2005 hard copy report instruction booklets are available to CESQG and SQG sites, while supplies last, by contacting the UNR Business Environmental Program at 800-882-3233 (in-state only) or 775-689-6688.

When is the Hazardous Waste Biennial Report Due?

The 2005 Biennial Report must be submitted to the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) by March 1, 2006.

Where do You Send Your Completed Biennial Report?

Send the CD Rom, the computer diskette or the original hard copy report form to the:

    Carson City, Nevada 89701 -5249

Send the "flat file" report, as an attachment to an email, to: brs@unr.edu You must also submit a signed hardcopy of the first three pages of the report (RCRA Subtitle C Site Identification Form (8700-13A/B) to the NDEP address listed above to complete your report submission.
